About Us

GameNite is a startup run by Weston, Safwaan, a few interns, and a handful of volunteers. We started this company because we love games. Safwaan co-founded a gaming studio for inclusiveness at just 19 then went on to become a professional software engineer. Weston has been making indie videogames since he was 14 and worked professionally on middleware and operating system after graduating from UCLA with a CS degree. Together we found that we had the perfect skill set to create a new gaming console. We work on GameNite full time and support ourselves with funds from our previous software jobs.

But why make a gaming console? Modern games can be very engaging but neither of us were ever big fans of the big AAA titles like Call of Duty. We prefer the social experience of playing card games with our friends in person. What if we could make that experience better, more convenient, make the games less expensive, make complex games easy to learn, and make it easier to find new games? What if we could add an interactive tutorial to some of our favorite games or add new mechanics that use dynamic controls? What if we could create a system that can host dozens of players at once, whether it’s a massive game night at home or a fun event at a local bar?

So we made GameNite, which is not only a platform dedicated to playing these games - but also an ecosystem of developers creating these games and a set of tools for doing so. You can join our community or learn about the GameNite console itself.
